CARB staff members originally proposed a requirement of 2,500 vehicles but the board increased this to 7,500.

Source: Motor Age![]() CARB looking at reducing required ZEV sales numbersMarch 27, 2008The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is considering making revisions to the state's zero emission vehicle (ZEV) regulations. The 11-member board this morning will hear recommendations from the CARB staff that would allow carmakers to sell 2,500 pure ZEV or electric vehicles between 2012 and 2014 instead of the current mandate of 25,000 in that time period. The board will listen to the recommendation and suggest amendments or table it for further discussion.

A recent study shows that increasing the gasoline tax to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is not a popular option. According to a nationwide survey by the National Center for Public Policy Research, 48 percent of Americans are unwilling to spend even a penny more in gasoline taxes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

He spoke before the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) at a third workshop March 18 in Tallahassee, Fla., on greenhouse gas emissions reduction and the potential adoption of California motor vehicle emissions standards in Florida.

After a statewide poll of independent auto repair shops in Massachusetts showed overwhelming support for equal access to repair information, the Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure extended its deadline for consideration of the Right to Repair bill for another 60 days.
