UIE Automotive this week unveiled its new myCar mobile technology, a telematics program that enables automakers, their supply base and dealer networks to instantly and immediately respond to a consumer's vehicle needs and update, add or extend services and applications.

The company showcased the technology at Telematics Detroit, the world's largest conference for the wireless automotive and mobile industry.

The myCar(TM) platform connects vehicles with owners on their mobile devices, including services on the iPhone from Apple and RIM's Blackberry Bold.

Automakers and content providers can deliver real-time vehicle and location-based services though myCar such as owner information, vehicle locator/tracker and routing services as well as guides for local restaurants, events and gas prices, all which are conveniently displayed on consumers existing mobile devices.

With real-time updates on the health of vehicles, myCar also allows drivers to use their handset to access remote vehicle features such as door lock and unlock, start the engine and check tire pressure.

"With myCar, UIE Automotive is delivering on the promise of the connected driver, today," says UIE Automotive General Manager Stephen Fishburn. "By bringing vehicle and owner information, location based services, and interaction with the vehicle over both long and short range wireless networks to the consumer's mobile phone, UIE Automotive is delivering a new class of mobile application that enables the automaker to deliver relevant content and connected services without impacting the vehicle's product development cycle. In short, our myCar Platform delivers a win now for the automakers, content providers, carriers, and most importantly, consumers."

UIE Automotive, a joint venture between UIEvolution and Tweddle Group , previewed the myCar platform at CTIA WIRELESS(R) in April. With offices in Seattle and Detroit, the partnership brings together decades of experience in automotive and mobile technology to provide a connected platform that introduces the latest innovations in wireless technology and mobile entertainment to the automotive ecosystem.

"Service is an important customer-relationship strategy for automakers and a key profit center for dealers," says Andrew Tweddle, CEO of Tweddle Group. "myCar automatically alerts vehicle owners when service is required, encouraging customers to proactively contact dealers for service appointments and to maintain their service schedules. At the same time, automakers are assured customers will have information to maintain their vehicles, an important factor in ensuring customer satisfaction with the product."
