New features added to Continental delivery truck tire

Responding to customer requests for a more rugged regional truck tire, Continental says it has enhanced its HSR1 tire for commercial pick-up and delivery applications.

The heavy steer regional tire now includes a curb/scuff rib feature in the 245/70R19.5 size.

“Reacting quickly to market changes and demands,” according to marketing director Clif Armstrong, “this new feature helps prevent damage conditions caused from curbing, cuts and abrasions and protects the casing for greater retreadability.”

Manufactured at Continental’s Mt. Vernon, Ill. plant, the all-position tire for medium-duty trucks also has pyramidal stone ejectors in the tread grooves to reduce stone retention, a wet traction tread pattern and a tread compound designed for long life in regional hauling plus other on- and off-road applications, he says.

“All of the durability features of the HSR1 tire, including the new rib design, will help pick-up and delivery fleets reduce their overall driving costs through increased tire life,” Armstrong asserts.

In addition to the 245/70R19.5 size, it is also available in 285/70R19.5; 305/70R19.5; 255/70R22.5; 275/70R22.5; 295/80R22.5; and 315/80R22.5 sizes.
