Greensboro, N.C.-based Snider Tire is joining the Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT) network of servicing dealers.

Snider’s, one of the country’s largest commercial tire dealers and retreaders, has eight retread facilities and 31 commercial service locations, primarily in the Carolinas, Georgia and Texas regions.

“We believe Snider Tire and the MRT products and process are a great match for our customers,” says John K. Snider, president and CEO. “We have been in business since 1976, and our people have always been focused on providing our customers with the best possible products and services to help lower their operating costs.”

The chain “has long been recognized for the quality of its people and service to the fleets,” notes Francois Corbin, chief operations officer for Michelin Americas Truck Tires. “We are confident that John Snider and his team will help us continue to provide excellent commercial truck services to fleet customers.”

The alliance “will be a great complement to the franchise network,” says Tom Brennan, vice president of Michelin Retread Technologies. Initiated 12 years ago, MRT currently has 44 franchisees with 79 North American retreading plants.

Snider’s was established when John H. Snider purchased General Tire Service, a local Greensboro dealer, in 1976. It originally offered a variety of products and services including car tires, new truck tires, off-the-road tires and retread truck tires prior to specializing in commercial tires and retreads. Its 650 employees now provide a service reach that extends throughout 30 states, John K. Snider reports.

In addition to supplying outsourcing alternatives to large, multi-location trucking fleets, a newer company division focuses on tires and service for forklifts, truck mounted lifts, aerial lifts, skid steers, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, cranes and other industry-specific applications.
