New Indiana Snider Tire retread plant to supply Arkansas and Ohio outlets

Snider Tire has opened a new retreading plant in Bluffton, Ind. The facility, which utilizes Michelin Retread Technologies (MRT), will be supplying Snider’s Tire and Retread Asset Control System (TRACS) to company locations in Blytheville, Ark. and Cambridge, Ohio.

TRACS refers to Snider’s “cradle-to-grave tire and retread” system for its truck fleet customers.

“More and more trucking fleets are focusing on the value that a comprehensive tire management program can bring, and that includes both high quality products and services,” says John H. Snider, the firm’s founder and president.

“Being able to supply even more MRT products to our TRACS customers will give them an even better chance to stay competitive in today’s marketplace,” he explains.

“John and his team have put together a very attractive service offering to fleet customers,” says Tom Brennan, MRT’s vice president and director. “The new Bluffton MRT plant will ensure an unbeatable combination of services and superior MRT product.”

With the addition of the Bluffton facility, MRT now has 81 plants throughout the U.S.

“MRT treads are built with proprietary Michelin compounds and tread patterns to mirror the performance of new Michelin truck tires,” Brennan reports.

Snider Tire, Inc., also known as STI, was established in 1976 when Snider purchased General Tire Service, a local dealer in Greensboro, N.C., where the company remains headquartered.

At first the firm provided over-the-road truckers with retreads and related service. It now supplies new tires, retreads and vehicle repairs throughout the transportation industry.

Snider’s has five factories and 34 commercial service locations employing more than 650 staffers in eight states. “With our strategically located plants,” the company’s coverage area extends to some 30 states.

“STI is recognized as an industry leader in providing innovative outsourcing alternatives to large, multi-location trucking fleets,” Snider says. “In an effort to maintain this leadership position, STI has an ongoing recruiting and training program to attract and retain the most qualified people available. Additionally, we continue to invest in our facilities, manufacturing equipment, vehicles and information technology.”
