No doubt you're familiar with the name George Avery. Avery is the State Farm representative whose job I find the least enviable in the entire industry. Avery appears at industry events such as the Collision Industry Conference and speaks directly to repairers about State Farm's positions on various issues. In person, all of us who know Avery would say he's one of the nicest people we've ever met. When he's doing his job and fielding questions on some of State Farm's most controversial moves, needless to say, he's not the most popular guy in the room. By far. Avery, of course, understands this better than anyone.

Metal restoration product touts fuel savings through friction reduction

CerMet Lab Company has received a U.S. patent for a nano-particle ceramic conditioner product that restores metal and reduces friction in metal-to-metal environments. The process has proven to significantly improve fuel economy in both diesel and gas-powered engines, as well as provide energy savings in other mechanical devices, according to the company.

Toyota recently displayed a prototype plug-in Prius hybrid at Legislative Plaza during a field hearing on electric drive vehicles called for by the Congressional TVA Caucus. The prototype Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) enhances the high fuel economy and ultra-low emissions of the popular Toyota Prius production hybrid model with an expanded Nickel-Metal-Hydride battery pack that can be charged by plugging into a standard household electrical outlet.
